It is made from acrylic which makes it warm and cozy. It's great gift for active and athletic young ladies who wear their hair up yet want to stay warm during the colder months. Our ponytail opening is around 2 inches. What works best is for you pull your ponytail through the opening and then make your messy bun or top knot after you hat is on your head. We want the hole to be big enough for people with very thick hair, yet small enough to keep your head warm and the hole unseen. Our ponytail opening is large enough for those of you who are blessed with very thick hair. I make two sizes in our hats. Our small hat fits toddler. Medium would be for approximately age 6 -12. Suggested teens order small adult size. The 20 inch size is great for a teen or petite person. You can measure the circumference of your head to see what hat would be good for you. If you need something larger, please shoot us a message and we can make one for you. Our hats do stretch - making each hat the perfect fit! As an example, if your head is 23 inches around, we'd suggest ordering our average hat (22 inches) to make it a good fit. Please hand wash our knitted wear and lay flat to dry for best results.
